The River Thames |
The River Thames was a common trading point, even before the 1500s and till this day. People used to trade things like silver and gold, clothes, fresh food, tropical fruits, sugar, vinigar, salt, pepper, tools, wood, different cargo, and even people. Unfortunately it is true that people that carried gunpowder had some unfortunate events, such as lighting candals and dropping them. People came from all over the world to trade. In order of most common trading partners came the Europians, then Asians, then Africans, then Americans, and finally Ausrtalians, who came very rarely. Boats came in all different shapes and sizes, some small and looked like they would fall apart into pieces on the water, and others that looked very expensive and large with polished sides. People thought it looked as if they could carry hundreds of men and not sink. Visits were made every day, some of the trading items were to be sent to very rich and posh people, who would only take the finest of everything. So sometimes the boats were sent back. In some cases the boats were burnt or smashed as a sign of there anger. This is a fact.
